Developer API Terms
Last updated July 3, 2026 · Hiltos LLC
These Developer API Terms supplement the Terms of Service and govern your use of the PaperReady APIs, provided by Hiltos LLC: the Local API (your client talks to the Print Bridge on a user’s machine) and the Cloud API (your server sends print jobs that we relay to a paired workstation). If these terms conflict with the Terms of Service for API use, these terms control.
1. API keys
Cloud API access uses secret API keys tied to your workspace. Keep keys confidential; do not embed a secret key in client-side code or a public repository. You are responsible for all use of your keys. You can create and revoke keys from your dashboard, and you must revoke any key you believe is compromised.
2. Acceptable use of the APIs
You must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy and with any published rate limits and documentation. You may not resell, sublicense, or provide the APIs as a standalone service to third parties without our written agreement, circumvent or misreport metering, or use the APIs to build a service that competes with PaperReady.
3. Usage-based billing (Cloud API)
- The Cloud API is billed per successful print at the rate published at paperready.studio/developers (currently US $0.01 per printed label), through a metered subscription you enable in your dashboard.
- Only delivered prints are billable. Jobs that are queued, fail, or expire before delivery are not billed.
- Metered charges are aggregated and invoiced monthly by our payment processor, in addition to any applicable taxes.
- We meter each delivered print once; usage records are idempotent so a print is never double-billed.
- End-user plans (Free/Pro/Business) are never metered; per-print billing applies only to the Cloud API.
- The Local API is free — printing happens client-side on the user’s machine and is not metered.
4. Your data and responsibilities
You are responsible for the content and legality of the payloads you send and for having the rights and permissions to send them. For Cloud API payloads that contain personal data, you are the controller and we are the processor under our Data Processing Addendum; we hold each payload only transiently to deliver the job and delete it once the job settles.
5. Changes to the APIs
We may add, change, deprecate, or remove API features. For breaking changes we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice. We may set or adjust rate limits and pricing on a prospective basis.
6. Suspension
We may throttle or suspend API access to protect the Service, address non-payment, or address a violation of these terms or the AUP.
7. Disclaimers and liability
The APIs are provided “as is,” and the warranty disclaimers and limitation of liability in the Terms of Service apply.
