Brother QL Label Printer Software (Free)

Brother's P-touch Editor is capable but has a real learning curve, and DK roll sizes trip everyone up. PaperReady prints to your QL without the editor.

The Brother QL series is a favorite for address and shipping labels, but P-touch Editor (and b-PAC behind it) is a lot of software for "print this label," and the DK roll system (continuous DK-2205 versus die-cut DK-1201 address labels) makes sizing its own small project. The QL-800 even prints red and black on DK-2251, which the generic driver handles inconsistently.

PaperReady detects your QL and prints at the loaded roll's real size, continuous or die-cut, without opening P-touch Editor. On the networked models (QL-810W, QL-820NWB, QL-1110NWB) it finds the printer over the LAN; on USB models it just appears. One list, one print button, alongside whatever else you run.

Set up your Brother QL for label printing

  1. Connect your Brother QL over USB, or add a QL-810W/820NWB/1110NWB to your network.
  2. Install the free PaperReady Print Bridge.
  3. Open the app; your QL is detected with its DK roll size.
  4. Enter the address or shipping details and print at true size, with no P-touch Editor.

Frequently asked

Does it handle both continuous and die-cut DK rolls?
Yes. PaperReady prints at whatever roll is loaded: continuous (e.g. DK-2205) sized to your label length, or die-cut address labels (e.g. DK-1201) at their fixed size.
Do I need P-touch Editor?
No. PaperReady detects the QL and prints without it. Keep P-touch Editor only if you want its template designer; for printing address and shipping labels it isn't needed.
Which Brother QL models are supported?
The common ones: QL-800, QL-810W, QL-820NWB, QL-1100, QL-1110NWB. USB models appear automatically; the wireless/network models are found over your LAN.
