DYMO Connect is a heavy download for what should be a two-click job, and on the 550 series it's tangled up with roll authentication. PaperReady keeps the printing and drops the friction.

DYMO's own stack has grown awkward: DYMO Connect (and the older DYMO Label v8) is a full install just to print an address label, and the 550-series added "Automatic Label Recognition" that reads a chip on the roll, great for auto-sizing, frustrating when it fights third-party labels. Meanwhile the LabelWriter is one of the most reliable little printers you can own.

PaperReady finds your LabelWriter next to every other printer your computer knows about and prints address, barcode, and shipping labels at the exact roll size: no Connect app, no ecosystem. To be straight with you: it can't override the 550's firmware-level roll check (nothing on the computer can), but for everyday printing to a DYMO the OS can see, it's the simplest path.

Print to your DYMO in four steps

  1. Plug in your LabelWriter (450, 550, 4XL…) and let your OS install it. DYMO Connect is not required.
  2. Install the free PaperReady Print Bridge.
  3. Open the app; your DYMO is detected with its roll size recognized.
  4. Type the address or point a barcode field at your data, and print at true size.

Frequently asked

Is this a replacement for DYMO Connect / DYMO Label?
For printing, yes. PaperReady detects the LabelWriter and prints address and barcode labels without installing DYMO's software. You'd only keep DYMO Connect for its own label-design extras.
Does it get around the DYMO 550 label authentication?
No. The 550's roll check is in the printer's firmware, so no computer software can bypass it. PaperReady prints normally to any DYMO your OS can see, including the 550 with recognized rolls.
Can I print barcodes on a DYMO with PaperReady?
Yes. Point the barcode field at your value (SKU, UPC, order id) and it generates a scannable barcode sized to the label. Format numeric values as text so leading zeros aren't dropped.
