Zebra Label Printer Software (Free)

Zebra's tools are built for the warehouse: ZebraDesigner and Setup Utilities are powerful and heavy, and Browser Print only talks to Zebras. PaperReady is the lightweight way to just print.

Zebra printers are the workhorses of shipping, and their software shows the enterprise heritage: Zebra Setup Utilities, ZebraDesigner, and Browser Print each solve a slice of the problem with real setup involved. Browser Print in particular is Zebra-only, so the moment you also have a DYMO or Rollo on the bench you're running two systems.

PaperReady speaks to your Zebra directly: send a label you designed in the app, or paste raw ZPL and it goes to the printer byte-for-byte. Your ZD421, GK420d, or GX430 is detected the instant it's connected, at 203 or 300 DPI, and it sits in the same list as every other brand you print to.

Works with: ZD230 · ZD410 · ZD420 · ZD421 · GK420d · GX430. If your OS can see it, PaperReady can print to it: brand-agnostic, no per-label fee.

Print to your Zebra in four steps

  1. Connect your Zebra over USB or network and let your OS install it.
  2. Install the free PaperReady Print Bridge.
  3. Open the app; your Zebra is detected as a label printer, DPI and all.
  4. Design a label (or paste raw ZPL) and print. Raw ZPL is sent unfiltered.
Free and unlimited for one computer. Works on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Frequently asked

Can I send raw ZPL to my Zebra?
Yes. Paste your ZPL and PaperReady hands it to the printer byte-for-byte, no reformatting: the same as sending it over a raw socket, but through the app.
How is this different from Zebra Browser Print?
Browser Print only works with Zebra printers. PaperReady uses the same local-agent idea but is brand-agnostic, so it prints to your Zebra and your DYMO/Rollo/Brother from one place, and ships as a ready-made app.
Which Zebra models and resolutions work?
The desktop line people use for shipping and barcodes (ZD230/410/420/421, GK420d, GX430) at 203 or 300 DPI. If the OS installed it, PaperReady prints to it.
